It's not to late to join us in St. Louis, Missouri September 16-17, 2016 for "Meet Me in the Garden: Cultivating People, Plants, Partnerships and the Profession," and we have added a 1 day registration option. The Missouri Botanical Garden will host the conference and facilitate several new events and workshops. Presentations will be held at the Garden, allowing attendees to experience an oasis within the city limits as well as the city itself. Pretours will be Thursday, September 15 and presentations will be Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17.
AHTA is proud to have Candice Shoemaker, PhD, as the Keynote Speaker for the 2016 Conference. An advocate for promoting the benefits of horticulture in human life, Dr. Shoemaker is actively involved in national and international organizations such as the People-Plant Council (PCP), the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS), the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), and the American Society of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta (AABGA) as well as the AHTA.
Our plenary speaker is Jack Carman, FASLA, and President of Design for Generations LLC. A landscape architect with over 20 years experience in the analysis, planning, design, and management of outdoor spaces, Jack's philosophy is to design gardens to address peoples' physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs. Jack is a co-editor and contributing writer to the recently published book "Re-creating Neighborhoods for Successful Aging," and is a contributing writer for several national publications focusing on articles regarding connecting people with nature. Jack is also a faculty member at the Chicago Botanic Garden and an adjunct faculty member at Temple University.
All presentations will be held at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, as will lunch on Friday and Saturday. Our host hotel will be the Clayton Plaza Hotel and our AHTA negotiated rate is $119 per night (plus tax) and that rate includes breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant. The Awards Social on Friday evening will also be at the Clayton Plaza Hotel. Our room block is open and will remain open until August 14, 2016 or until the room block sells out- whichever is first!
Early registration rates are $285 for AHTA Members and $270 for AHTA Student Members. Non-members receive a 1year AHTA membership with their registration of $385 (available to new members only).
