As a Landscape Architect / Project Manager on the KVD team you will:

 

·         Prepare planning and site design that aligns with KVD’s commitment to innovative design

·         Manage multiple complex scope from conception to completion

·         Prepare designs and deliverables within project budgets and goals

·         Participate in project meetings with clients, city officials and consultants for coordination

·         Prepare entitlement applications and related illustrative and technical graphics

·         Deliver conceptual project vision by ensuring construction documents are completed to the highest level of detail

·         Manage team members and coordinate all aspects of project workflow

·         Prepare contract documents, including details, sections, grading, layout and landscape plans

·         Produce amendments, addenda, and bulletins

·         Supervise junior staff to ensure they are executing assigned tasks to the highest level

·         Coordinate, build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and staff

JOB SUMMARY 

As a Landscape Architect with 3-5 years of experience, you will play a pivotal role in our team, bridging junior and senior levels. You'll manage small to medium-sized urban projects from concept to construction, balancing hands-on design work with growing project management responsibilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ragan Smith is seeking a full-time Land Planner / Urban Designer to join our Landscape Architecture and Land Planning Studio based in our Chattanooga office. The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, and has a passion for creating places that are authentic, innovative, and functional. This position will have an opportunity to work on a broad range of projects with a focus on public sector work, planning, and design including community comprehensive plans, parks and recreation planning and design, community mobility and alternative transportation plans, streetscape and urban design, green infrastructure, civic center, and downtown master planning. The Land Planner will have access to professionals of various backgrounds and expertise across our multi-disciplinary firm. 

RaganSmith is looking to grow our flourishing community planning and urban design practice with a proven contributor. This position will have the opportunity to work with experienced AICP planners, registered LAs and Civil Engineers but should have a demonstrated record of success in developing plans, projects, and policy documents for community-based projects. The selected candidate will also demonstrate a passion and aptitude for planning and designing the public realm, engaging community members in the design process, and translating community input into functional plans, policy, and designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support senior planners and/or project managers in producing master planning documents for federal projects

  • Support project team in data collection and data analysis

·     Lead project teams for projects including: master planned communities, urban infill development, mixed-use development, community and neighborhood master planning, future growth corridor land use planning, campus planning for education, medical or general institutions, suburban site planning

·     Prepare and lead presentations that communicate the design process and concepts

·     Attend and represent projects at community planning commission and/or city council meetings

·     Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination

·     Assist in business development efforts for the Planning and Landscape Architecture studio

·     Contribute to office activities, initiatives and professional development programs

·     Mentor younger staff and team members

Qualifications:

·     Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Urban & Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture or related field

·     Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience in a planning and/or landscape architecture studio (professional licensure preferred)

·     Experience in large-scale planning, mixed-use and residential development, and demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative professional environment

·     Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, environmentalists and other design and development consultants

·     Experience with the municipal planning/entitlement process, interpreting community policy and zoning ordinances and project submittal requirements

·     Demonstrated initiative, problem solving, and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail

·     Strong written/verbal communication, research and presentation skills

·     Strong hand and computer graphic skills

·     LEED accreditation and/or sustainable design experience is preferred

·     Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator), and Microsoft Office

·     A creative thinker, collaborative teammate and a willingness to work on a variety of project types
