We have an excellent opportunity for a senior project manager / associate principal landscape architect at our Knoxville, Tennessee office. The position requires a commitment to design excellence and self-motivation to expand professionally in a collaborative atmosphere. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, management, communication, and design skills and the ability to collaborate with other design disciplines.
The Position’s Responsibilities will include:
Manages complex projects and provides guidance to other project managers
Mentoring of project managers, leading to increasing maturity and soundness of judgment in decision making and in anticipating and solving project-related problems
Development, management, and improvement of project management methodologies
Business acumen in the areas of budgeting, labor forecasting, setting fees to achieve targeted profit level, risk management for projects
Lead project design and quality control
Interface with clients, contractors, and other design disciplines
Minimum qualifications for the position include:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture Experience:
Skills:
Senior Project Manager: 10+ years of project management experience
Associate Principal: 15+ years of project management experience
Registered landscape architect in Tennessee (or other state with the ability to obtain reciprocity)
Strong experience leading and motivating a team
Ability to lead and facilitate a collaborative work environment and advance initiatives that support a positive workplace culture
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
Managing multiple projects is second-nature, and you have successful experience overseeing and coordinating major components of landscape architecture projects of all sizes within budget and schedule
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to interact well in various business and social settings with all types of people in a mature and professional manner
A broad range of experience in various project types is desired including master planning, detailed design, public engagement, technical design, and construction observation/administration
Physical requirements:
Capable of traveling to and from project sites for attending client, project, and construction meetings
Ability to access existing and new project sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation purposes
Ability to use office equipment for communication and documentation purposes
Visual acuity to perform responsibilities

Take an active role in the design and production of construction documents and master plans for various types of Landscape Architectural projects, and will assist in assembling reports, presentation documents, and proposals
As technical skills increase more individual work assignments will be permitted along with greater client interaction
Create renderings of proposed projects
Create BIM models to collaborate with other design disciplines
Conceptualize across a broad range of scales and project types, from master planned communities to urban environments at a planning level and detailed site design level
May assist with construction administration tasks
Minimum qualifications for the position include:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture Experience: 3 – 6 years experience preferred
Skills:
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Previous design and professional office experience preferred
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp
BIM Modeling software (ex. Vectorworks, Revit, Rhino)
Digital renderings using Twinmotion, Lumion, or similar is a plus but not required
